ClimRR
A central hub for dynamically downscaled future hazards data
About ClimRR
New to ClimRR? Click here!ClimRR provides data about future conditions and environmental extremes to help us better plan and adapt for the future. Using one of the world's largest supercomputers, ClimRR datasets provide among the most comprehensive, free dynamically downscaled projections for the United States.
A Central Hub for Dynamically Downscaled Future Hazards Data
Environmental extremes and related hazards are becoming more complex, intense, and frequent. Understanding these future conditions in cities and towns across the United States is necessary to prepare for these risks to the nation. To address this need, ClimRR empowers individuals, governments, and organizations to examine simulated future conditions at mid- and end-of-century for a range of hazards and perils. ClimRR was developed by Argonne National Laboratory in close collaboration with AT&T and the United States Department of Energy's Grid Deployment Office (GDO).

ClimRR Goals

ClimRR seeks to empower non-technical individuals, organizations, planners and decision-makers at state, local, tribal, and territorial governments to gain awareness of future conditions and to conduct science-informed analyses to support decision-making and risk-mitigation efforts.

The data within ClimRR can enable technical audiences' access to data. Users can use the future hazard projections to examine infrastructure design criteria, aid in development plans, and inform other technical analyses that would benefit from the use of robust data for future conditions.

ClimRR data can be combined with population and infrastructure data to analyze today's communities in the context of tomorrow's hazard conditions. ClimRR data layers can be uploaded to the Resilience Analysis and Planning Tool (RAPT) for more in-depth community analysis.
Public-Private Cooperation Builds a Resilient America
The ClimRR Portal was developed by researchers at Argonne National Laboratory, with continued support and guidance from AT&T and DOE's Grid Deployment Office (GDO).

AT&T is an American multinational telecommunications holding company. Much of this data was made available through AT&T's philanthropic and sustainability missions led under the company's Corporate Social Responsibility Team.

The U.S. Department of Energy's Grid Deployment Office (GDO) works to provide electricity to everyone, everywhere by maintaining and investing in critical generation facilities to ensure resource adequacy and improving and expanding transmission and distribution systems.

Argonne conducts research and analysis to enable unmatched risk-informed decision-making and hazard resilience planning for public and private stakeholders facing a variety of disaster-related challenges around the world.
